Moving Our Office to the Busan Seaside for a Team Workation

We moved our office to the seaside in Busan for a few days. This September, the Yeomyeonggeori team headed to Yeongdo, Busan, for a four-day workation.

Same work, different view

We opened our laptops in the business lounge at Lavalse Hotel and worked pretty much as usual. But the change of scenery made a bigger difference than we expected.

Taking a moment to look out the window, clearing our heads by the sea, and then getting back to work turned out to be a refreshing change of pace.

A hackathon by the sea

During the workation, we also held a hackathon where everyone built an MVP around a topic of their choice. We ended up with some pretty interesting results, and we’ll share more about them in a future post.

The little moments in between

Surprisingly, though, what stayed with us most were the little moments in between.

One evening, we were crossing a bridge together on our way to dinner. The breeze was cool, we could smell the ocean, and the sun happened to be setting as we walked. It was a simple moment, but one we think we’ll remember for a long time.

We also had the chance to naturally connect with our newer teammates, and after spending four days together, it felt like the team had grown a little closer.

Changing where we work doesn’t make the work disappear, but it definitely helps us grow closer to the people we work with.
